Introducing the Sustainability Kick Start Program?
This Program has been designed to support you to:
- Build your sustainability knowledge - what it means to you, your team and your service so that you can get everyone on the same page and move forward in the same direction;
- Learn strategies for engaging your team, children, families and community so that you're not doing all the work yourself (which isn't embedding sustainability anyway!); and
- Move forward with clarity, confident that you know where you’re going and what you need to do to get there.
This is not a one size fits all approach. I will give you the knowledge and know-how to effectively implement this approach in your setting - in a way that works for you and your team. Choose your own adventure!
Our approach is flexible and adaptable to a range of settings, and applicable no matter where you are on your sustainability Journey.
I’m not going to teach you the ins and outs of climate change, what you can and can't recycle, or what goes in your worm farm. I will focus on the mind set, skills and tools you need to effectively embed sustainability across your service.
I support you to build your understanding of sustainability themes and concepts as you explore, discover and learn with the children - you don’t need all the answers to get started.
I always start with action. Creating opportunities for discussion and building momentum for your sustainability program. We’ll support you as you implement your first steps and make sure you have all that you need to get things moving in the right direction.

About Bron
Hi, I’m Bron. I'm an environmental scientist and sustainability educator specializing in early years sustainability - my focus for the past 8 years. I founded Real World Learning in 2016 after many years working with Local and State Government, Small Business, Not-For-Profits, Community Groups and of course early childhood services.
I love helping passionate educators and leaders embed sustainability across their service - engaging their team, children, families and community.
I have been developing and implementing sustainability education and engagement programs for over 20 years. I’ve learnt all the tips, lessons and strategies I’ll share with you, the hard way. I’ve felt the frustration and pain of banging your head against the wall, getting nowhere fast; and the challenge of getting others on board. I’ve heard all the objections. But, over time, I discovered the most effective strategies for addressing them all, and saw some amazing transformations!

Self Paced Online Learning
You'll get access to the Real World Learning Online Portal for 4 months (until 30 September). This is where you can access our two Online Courses - Starting Sustainability and Getting Others On Board which will guide you through the process of getting everyone on the same page and developing your Sustainability Action Plan. This can easily be incorporated into your existing documentation and QIP.
You will also learn a range of strategies for engaging your team, families and your broader community in your sustainability program. You'll also identify a Catalyst Project that will help you get some quick wins and build momentum.
You will have access to the Portal starting 7 June through to 30 September 2021.
Practical Tools
The Sustainability Toolbox includes 14 digital tools that will make understanding and embedding sustainability easier. Download them from the Portal and use them to support you and your team as you develop and deepen your understanding of sustainability and embed sustainability into your policies, programs and practices across your service.

Live Webinars
Four Live Webinars are scheduled fortnightly over 8 weeks to dive deeper into some of the key concepts and strategies outlined in the Online Courses. Deepen your understanding and ask questions as we further explore:
- How to get everyone on the same page and develop a common understanding of sustainability and what it means for your service;
- How to create a sustainability vision that inspires, engages and motivates your team over the long term;
- How to reverse engineer your vision to create a practical action plan that will keep you moving in the right direction, at any scale or pace; and
- How to engage your team, children, families and/or community through ACTION. Develop your Catalyst Project and generate discussion, action, quick wins and momentum.
