How does it work?

Each day during the challenge you will receive a Mission via email.  The Missions will explore a different theme or idea - Life in a Tree; Seeds Pollen & Spores; Life in the Veggie Patch; Things with Wings; and Uniquely Australian Plants & Animals.

Each Mission includes enough background info so that you can respond to even the curliest of questions.  There are ideas and open ended possibilities for play you can adapt for children of all ages, stages and interests... And enough recommendations for further reading, videos and resources to keep even the most curious little explorers satisfied!

This Challenge is a fun way to engage your team, children and families and start a conversation about sustainability.

We're keen to hear your experiences so we've set up a Pop Up Facebook Group especially for the challenge where you can ask questions, see what others are doing and share how you have explored each mission.

Yes, I'm up for the Challenge!

What Others Have Said About the Challenge...

Rachael

Being able to pick and choose which activities we completed was great as some days challenges were more relevant to what we are trying to achieve/children's interests at the moment. But we have saved the challenges we didn't do yet for a later date.

Heather

Thank you, I really enjoyed this. Book me in for the next one!!!

Helping Hands Bert Oldfield - OSHC

My educators were wanting to know what the next challenge was on Monday when they arrived at work! We could have done the challenge for another week.

AND Tania at Nurture In Nature shares her Nature Storytelling Playbook.  It's a guidebook & a workbook in one & it's full of opportunities to explore, discover, learn and PLAY in the special place where nature and story meet.

You'll get all the info you need to Upgrade once you register!

But what if I can't do it right now?

If the Challenge Missions don't fit in with your program or the children's interests right now,  register and keep them handy for another time. Or, use them as a discussion starter for some team professional development

Brainstorm how you could respond to the Missions.  What resources could you use? Are there books in your library you could incorporate? Songs you know? Resources available?  How could you take the ideas presented and extend the learning?  Do any of these suggestions spark an idea for a Project or investigation?

It's a great tool to use to challenge your team and bring a bit of interest to your next team meeting!... And, let's face it, connecting with and exploring nature is something every service should do regularly.

That's a Great Option, I'm In!

How will the Challenge help me embed STEM & sustainability?

Engaging your team, children and families in conversations and experiences based on STEM and sustainability concepts - such as biodiversity, ecosystems, plant & animal adaptations, humans role in protecting nature, how nature supports our health & wellbeing, etc. piques interest and engagement.

In turn this provides opportunities to develop mindsets, skills and tools that support further discussion & action towards embedding STEM & sustainability (and they might not even realise! Shhh I won't tell....🤫)

This Challenge is a fun way to start conversations you can build on.  It gives you opportunities to suss out who's interested in sustainability, who's keen to get involved, and what skills your team, families & community could bring to the table for future sustainability projects... (All useful intelligence my Dear Watson! 🕵️‍♀️)

OK, Let's Do It!

PRIZES & Fun Stuff!

Those that share their experiences in the Challenge Facebook Group will go into the running for some awesome prizes, including Sustainability PD, a Nature Ninja Book and Resources Pack from Tania and there's even a scholarship to join the next intake for the Sustainability Kick Start Program!

We all learn when we share our stories and experiences with each other.  You never know, you might just inspire someone!
